Planes, Trains & Automobiles
"No matter your wreckage. There will be someone to find you beautiful, despite the cruddy metal. Your ruin is not to be hidden behind paint and canvas. Let them see the cracks. Someone will come to sing into these empty spaces."
Sarah Kay
"And the rest is rust and stardust.”
Vladimir Nabokov
We have made them bigger, faster, stronger. We made them to move us along, defying gravity. They took us on vacations, our morning commutes, trips home, or even defenses of our liberty. Sooner or later, they were no longer bigger, faster, or stronger. Then they became memories of lives lived. Within each frame I feel the stories of metal against the wind, now an echo that only Mother Earth can silence. Ashes to ashes, rust to rust. This portfolio gathers photographs from an airplane boneyard in the desert of California, an almost-impossible-to-find train graveyard in rural Pennsylvania, and multiple auto and truck graveyards in Georgia.
